Mixed Dal - Mixed Lentils
   
   

Ingredients  (Serves 4)

1/4 cup split urad dal

1/4 cup split-wash moong dal (without skin)

1/4 cup lentil (masoor)

1/4 cup toor dal/arhar

1/2 teaspoon turmeric (haldi)

1-1/2 teaspoon salt

4-5 cups water

 

Chaunk/Tarka (Seasoned oil)

 2 tablespoons oil

1 teaspoon cumin seeds (jeera)

1/8 teaspoon asafetida (hing)

1/2 teaspoon red chili powder

1 cup chopped tomatoes

1/2 teaspoon garam masala, optional

   

Step 1
Cook Lentils with salt + turmeric powder. Choose one of four ways 1. Pressure Cooker Cook 20 mins 2. Stove Heat Cook 40 mins 3. Crock Pot Cook 4-6 hrs 4. Microwave Cook 60 mins
  

Step 2
Make Tarka (2 Mins) Add cumin seeds + bay leaves + tomatoes
  

Step 3
Add Tarka to cooked lentils - 2 mins
