Moong Dal with Spinach
   
   

Ingredients (Serves 4)

1 cup moong dal (with skin)

 2 cups chopped spinach

1/2 teaspoon turmeric

1 ½  teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)

 4 cups water

1/2 teaspoon lemon juice (adjust to your taste at end)

 

Chaunk/Tarka (Seasoned oil)

 2 tablespoon oil

1/2 teaspoon cumin seed

Pinch of asafetida (hing)

1/4 teaspoon red chili powder

1/4 teaspoon garam masala

   

Step 1
Cook Lentils with salt + turmeric powder. Choose one of four ways 1. Pressure Cooker Cook 20 mins 2. Stove Heat Cook 40 mins 3. Crock Pot Cook 4-6 hrs 4. Microwave Cook 60 mins
  

Step 2
Make Tarka (2 Mins) Add cumin seeds + bay leaves + tomatoes
  

Step 3
Add Tarka to cooked lentils - 2 mins
