ASAFETIDA (Hing)
Asafetida is available in Indian grocery store. Asafetida is a dried resinous gum. It is most widely available as a powder or gum. Asafetida powder has a strong, unpleasant smell. The taste is bitter, musky.
 
AJWAIN (Carom or Ajowan)
Ajwain, is native to southern India, is a small seeds and closely related to thyme and cumin. The herb thyme makes a good substitute for ajwain. This plant is also very popular in India, Pakistan, Iran and Egypt. It tastes bitter and hot.
